Pot Biryani at Andhra House

potTucked on first floor of busy small Dodathogur road is situated a biryani restaurant serving one of the very delicious Hyderabadi style biryani. Their USP – Hyderabadi Biryani served in clay pots. We wanted to eat something Indian and spicy and that’s how this place came to our mind as our love for Biryani never ends.

A perfect Andhra Mess kind of setup to have lunch on a pleasant afternoon. Pass by busy Dodathogur road, through a small open parking space and then take well lit stairs to the first floor.

Some nice paintings greet you till you reach on the first floor. Stairs are not ventilated but well-lit. Serving area is a big hall which is very well ventilated. Table and chairs are also laid such that it does not become congested. Big tables and very comfortable cushioned chairs. Staff is prompt in keeping the place clean. In one corner the cash counter is set from where the management monitors all the movements.

Biryani served in clay pot covered with aluminum foil. Raita and gravy are the accompaniments. Both the biryani came hot and fresh to us, so the first step was very satisfying. Taste was very authentic and delicious. Very balanced spices. Meat was well marinated, tender and well cooked. Serving of rice and meat, both was of good quantity. Aroma was pleasant. Quantity was mind blowing.

Guntur Mutton Curry

We checked with the steward to suggest us some good mutton preparation and he suggested us Guntur Mutton Curry. Oh, boy! What a suggestion was that. It turned out to be a dish which we would like to repeat with our future visits also. Very strongly spiced preparation and gravy had a sour taste like pickle. Mutton was very well cooked, soft and tender. This went perfect with the biryani.

SERVICE : Expect some delay in service if you go in peak hours. The staff is very helpful but still you may have to call then few times to address your needs. Steward is aware of the preparations and able to help. Management also does their best to monitor the happenings and come to help.

  1. Aw, this was a really nice post. In idea I would like to put in writing like this additionally – taking time and actual effort to make a very good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and by no means seem to get something done.

  2. An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers
