WHAT THEHEEBEE SAYS :
Five Star Chicken is a part of ‘processed food and ready to eat‘ business of The Charoen Pokphand Group (CP), A Thai multi-national conglomerate with $35 billion business in agro-industry & food, retail and telecommunications.
It was a wonderful surprise to see that in spite of having a pro-non-vegetarian name, they had enough of vegetarian offerings also. A big relief to all the pure vegetarian food lovers in our group. They are also working towards renaming it to ‘Five Star Cafe’ in order to remove the belief that they only server non-vegetarian food!! A great move!!
We got a chance to taste their delicious offerings as part of 19th Food Bloggers Association, Bangalore’s meetup.
AT THE FIRST STEP :
A big team from Five Start Chicken, headed by talented Shagufta and R&D Chef Prabhmeet Singh Sethi was lined up to help us with answers to all our queries. Throughout the session we kept them busy with a lot of queries. They were very attentive in listening to those and gave us an in depth understanding.
THINGS WORTH KNOWING :
The team explained us how they maintain the freshness and hygiene of all products. It was a surprise to know that their materials are fresh and unfrozen. Enough care is taken to keep vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods separated in all aspects. They ensure hygiene at stores by doing regular surprise audits and QA.
Chef Prabhmeet took us through the ingredients, processes, flavors etc with a lot of enthusiasm.
THEHEEBEE TASTED :
Five Start Chicken team had planned to take us through a good spread of their menu including their signature dishes. It was a wonderful hospitality of the team who kept on offering us both – vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
Signature dishes : Thai Crispy Chicken Bucket and Crunchy Masala Chicken Bucket
The start was very delicious. Both the signature dishes created a ‘wow’ feeling to all non-vegetarian foodies. Excellent signature spices and flavors. Crispy batter and very tender chicken. Both were mildly spiced but still able to create lovely tang. Unanimously all felt that these were much better than similar offerings from the competitors.
CP Veg Burger. CP Veg Roll with Masala Fries
Burger had very soft bun, mayo, onion, capsicum and a crunchy thick veg patty. It was again of a mild taste. Veg roll was having the same stuffing as the burger. Both these were just right for a vegetarian food lover who relishes mild flavors. We thought that a bit of spices and tanginess can be added to the flavors.
Masala fries were a perfect accompaniment to the burger and veg roll. Well cooked, crisp and nicely coated with masala. Taste was very tangy and in no time we finished two large portions of it. A thumbs up on Masala fries.
This was a complete surprise. It had a very well spiced stuffing. Stuffing was evenly spread across the paratha. Very rarely we find a paratha that can be ate without pickle or raita. All the foodies liked the taste and flavors of it.
Very tender meat and batter was interesting.
Cheese Corn Nuggets
Very well cooked with nice filling of cheese. Though it was not an outstanding dish, a bite here and there was making us happy.
We are a die-hard biryani fans. After eating the biryani at Five Star Chicken, we would say that our session started with an amazing dish and ended with another amazing dish. Flavors were absolutely lovely. Very well balanced spices in rice. Chicken was well marinated and juicy. It was a ‘Dil Maange More’ dish. A must try recommendation from THEHEEBEE.
Overall it was a great experience. Tasty and hygienic food at very affordable rates. We are sure that Five Star Café is going to make a huge fan following, the way Five Star Chicken has made.
