WHAT THEHEEBEE SAYS :
We came across a lot of buzz about this café from various social media forums and fellow blogger friends. There was quite some time that we were planning a visit to The Hole In The Wall Café and the opportunity came knocking in form of an unplanned brunch.
The experience was a real fun!!
This is completely different when compared to another ‘cafe’. There is no glass walls, no teak-wood tables, no air-conditioning…. but yet it gives a completely different satisfaction and pleasure. It is just a perfect place to have brunch with family or friends or even solo!!
Menu comprises of various English breakfast items (veg and non-veg), beverages, coffee, tea, smoothie, floats etc.
THITWC is located on a relatively peaceful stretch in Koramangala. It is quickly accessible and easy to reach. Though there is no parking as such, but very nearby there is a huge open plot which is used for parking vehicles.
AT THE FIRST STEP :
Café operates out of a two storey house. It is fancy, unique and welcoming. On every table you find people seated and happily chit-chatting and enjoying the food. We could spot people in various groups – college friends, colleagues, room mates, families and couples. Also there were few folks who came solo and were enjoying all the rhythm.
A lot of exciting positive vibes welcomed us. The café was full when we reached and there were few groups which were waiting for their turn. Luckily there was a three seater table on the first floor verandah and we were exactly three. So we got that lovely location overlooking the main road in company of a big tree and with a lot of breeze flowing by.
It operates out of a house converted to a café. There is seating on the ground floor and on first floor. On both the floors there are options to sit inside the room and outside in the verandah. Interior look and feel is of a very funky café with a lot of old and random articles hung on walls. There are tables, chairs and benches. Furniture is like an old Parsi/Irani café in Mumbai. It is well ventilated. In spite of no air-conditioning, the place doesn’t get hot, may be due to all the ingenious old design of the house.
Plant pots are kept at various locations. There are book to read.
The Complete ‘Veggie’ Omelette
A very soft and delicious Omlette where you can choose 3 of the 10+ Veg ingredients. It is served with two slices of toast and butter. We selected only Cheese among the ingredients and it came out lovely. Melting in mouth, well cooked and the kid loved it.
The Hangover Remedy
Two spicy fried eggs topped with chilli, coriander and cheese. Served with two slices of brown bread and butter.
This was the ‘show stopper’ among our order. Cooked perfect, taste perfect and it was something which we had never had. This was the ‘Dil Maange More’ dish and a highly recommended dish from THEHEEBEE.
Mixed Masala Baked Beans on Toast
Mixed boiled beans cooked with onions, mushrooms and chilli. Had a little tangy flavor and coriander was creating a magic.
Two decent sized pan fried sausages. Well roasted and was a good accompaniment with rest of the order.
Waffles with fresh Strawberry and Cream
This has been one of the best waffles we have had. Very soft and freshly cooked waffles. Topped with fresh strawberry pieces and fresh cream. It was melting in mouth and THEHEEBEE recommends it as a #mustEat dish.
The complete setup is of a kind where you would like to spend more time over the food. We would actually prefer that the stewards don’t push us out and we get to spend a lazy weekend morning over a brunch. That is exactly what happened. The staff will be available around you but will wait for you to call them. Once you place the order, you are promptly served on time. Overall the service meets our expectations. But we still recommend them to keep a watch on those customers who would actually expect a staff which proactively approaches them and takes care without being called.
Brunch for two costs around 400 – 600 Rs.
