WHAT THEHEEBEE SAYS :
We got a chance to visit Big Pitcher as part of Food Blogger’s Table event organized by Food Bloggers Association Bangalore (#FBAB). It was an exhilarating experience with Beer, Wine and delicious food on a Sunday noon. Weekend became a fun!!
It is located on Old Airport road, adjacent to The Leela Palace. Neither we nor the cab driver had any difficulty in locating the place. Its a huge premise with valet parking facility available.
AT THE FIRST STEP :
It is located in an upmarket Domloor area on Old Airport Road and adjacent to The Leela Palace. The building is huge with modern jazzy exteriors. There are huge glass windows which expose the micro-brewery equipment right on the road. This makes it very attractive. There is a lot of greenery around. Valet parking is available, so you need not worry to find a parking space.
A Veerappan mustachioed man greets you on the main gate. He has strong looks but is very polite and welcoming. I strongly recommend to the management to take care of this guy. He ensures that he welcomes every guest and makes them comfortable right from the first steps.
As we entered, we were literally surprised to see how huge the place is. How organized it is. How vibrant was every thing in it. Management has put in a lot of effort to take care of minute details.
It was a very welcome feeling right from our first step.
It is a huge 6 floor premise. Each floor has a different theme. Club Kahuna for the dance and music lovers. Splitwood for the rustic cow-boy theme. Sizzling Street for those who likes to experiment with food. Studio 4121 for the formal ones. Finally Star Lounge for a relaxing feeling. Thanks to ChefBB for introducing us to this lovely world.
A huge micro brewery is setup in one portion of the premise. It gives a different feeling altogether.
Bloggers table event was setup in Splitwood. Feeling is more like a Tavern. Wooden tables made of logs of wood. Cowboy hat, boots hung on walls. Old gun and pistols were very attractive.
The Blogger’s table event kicked-off with refreshing self brewed chilled beer. This was a great start of the event.
They brew beers of various different flavors. Starting from mild beer to a crispy strong beer. Belgian, Dark Ale, Sarava, Kingslayer, Pilsner etc are some of the popular beers from Big Pitcher. Our favorites were Sarava – the light one with a fruity flavor and Kingslayer which was a dark strong beer. Apart from beer we also had Big Banyan SHIRAZ Red Wine and mocktails in the offerings. Non-alcoholics enjoyed the mocktails. Drinks kept on coming through the event and kept all the foodies refreshed.
Soups, Starters & Main Course :
We tasted a spread from soup & starters to main course & desserts. Each dish that came out of kitchen was giving a tough time to the previous dish. Taste and presentation were up to perfection and we were absolutely mesmerized. We tried to taste as many of the dishes as possible, but could not taste everything of it. Below is a glimpse of the lovely food that Big Picher offers.
While food tasting was at its peak excitement, we got the pleasure of doing a short discussion with Chef Kumar who is the person behind all the delicious food. He is a highly experienced chef and has got a lot of insight into what the guests will expect. He helped us understand all the hard work that goes from conceptualizing the dishes till their presentation. Me and my blogger friend Praveen spend a good time discussing with him and he was very happy in helping us with the details.
While we were splurging on delicious food, Mr Venkatesh – master brewer came to invite us for a tour to micro brewery. He was very kind and definitely a master of his art. Very patiently he took us through the complete process – starting from the raw ingredients till the taps which serve the freshly brewed chilled beer. He explained us how they maintain high standards in the brewery and how the critical quality check happens. Every inch of brewery was very clean and hygienic.
Almost when our stomachs were more than full, there came the delicious dessert dishes. We could not resist those.
All desserts were very delicious. Sizzling brownie could had been a little better though. Cheese cake was the “Dil Maange More” types. Prominent rum taste in Rum Flambe Gulab Jamun was quite an innovation.
Service during Blogger’s table event was flawless. Apart from that when we ventured through other service area, we could observe that the staff was attentive to all the guests and were helpful to them.
