Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for me. It brings in the fresh burst of energy and happiness, apart from the first tango of flavors and mood lifters.

It is very important for everyone to have a disciplined routine around the first meal of the day. Many times it is treated trivially when there is lack of knowledge about its importance.

Many prestigious colleges, universities, doctors, nutritionists have done research about the importance of breakfast. All their research is very well documented and all the researchers unanimously emphasize the importance of breakfast in daily routine. There is an overwhelming amount of information available on the Internet and I want to highlight some points that I have read and that has caused a deep impact on me.

  • Breakfast:
    • Provides the much-needed fuel to the body at the start of the day. It boosts your metabolism.
    • Provides the first energy boost and hence body and mind of a person work much better.
    • Helps in improving memory and concentration and hence we can be more focused on our objectives.
    • Helps to lower stress levels and works as a mood enhancer.
    • Has many long-term benefits of breakfast like reduction in obesity, control on blood pressure and diabetes and hence a healthy heart.

Fortunately, the awareness about the importance of Breakfast is increasing which is very good for the overall health improvement of the society. But every mass awareness attracts commercialization and hence we see the market flooded with ‘Ready To Eat‘ food options.

In order to understand the choice of people between “Freshly Cooked” and “Ready To Eat” breakfast options, we conducted a poll in a Facebook Food Lovers’ Group called “Foodies Den“.

Below are the results of the poll along with some interesting comments from members.

Breakfast

When we translate this poll results into a graph, the result is as under:

Breakfast

As we can see, 93% fo the people who participated in the poll have said that they prefer Freshly Cooked breakfast over the Ready To Eat options. This is a very important statistics as it indicates that we still have a huge majority of people that prefer Freshly cooked breakfast.

Benefits of Freshly Cooked breakfast:

Freshly Cooked food has many advantages over the Ready To Eat options. I would like to emphasize mainly on two major advantages:

A). Nutritional Value: Processed/Frozen food gets some hit on the nutritional value of the food compared to the fresh food. So ready to eat food will have less nutritional value than what one could get from freshly cooked food.

B). Knowledge of the Ingredients: When you cook the food freshly, you would know what ingredients have you put in it. Whereas for a read to eat option, you will have to carefully know the preservatives, taste/flavor enhancers etc that would have been added.
