My first experience with British Airways

WHAT THEHEEBEE SAYS ABOUT THE FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH BRITISH AIRWAYS:

British Airways

This year in February I had to travel from Bangalore to New York. While exploring my flight options, I finalized to travel by British Airways via London Heathrow.

My British Airways flights were as below:
BA 118 from Bengaluru, Kempegowda International Airport to London, Heathrow Airport
BA 113 from London, Heathrow Airport to New York, J F Kennedy Airport
BA 114 from New York, J F Kennedy Airport to London, Heathrow Airport
BA 119 from London, Heathrow Airport to Bengaluru, Kempegowda International Airport

All the flights on an average took off and landed on schedule. All the flights had very comfortable take off, landing and cruising. Air turbulence was felt very seldom and was manageable.

Travel class and comfort:
I traveled by economy class on all four flights. As I required some leg space due to surgery on my leg, I had booked seat 26E on 3 flights and 27F on one flight. 26E has a very good leg space so a major part of my journey was comfortable. All the flyers were given warm blankets which were very clean and wrapped neatly in a plastic bag. Seats were comfortable and backrests were designed ergonomically so that one can rest the head in both directions. Lavatories were clean. Aircraft had apt cooling.

Food and beverages:
In every flight, we were served food twice of which one was a full meal and another was a smaller portion like breakfast or snack. Food menu was well curated and everyone was given the option to select from a non-vegetarian or vegetarian meal. Every meal was followed by fresh hot coffee/tea.
Ther were good beverage options for alcoholic drinks and non-alcoholic drinks. Me being a beer lover I had different beers in all the flights.

In-flight entertainment:
The entertainment systems were old and had multiple scratches. From the quality of entertainment systems, one can make out that these are pretty old aircraft. I feel that the way in which they have taken care of the seating comfort, at some point in time, the entertainment systems should also be upgraded. All the front row seats had the foldable screens whereas all the other seats had screens behind the front row. The screens are low responsive to touch. The entertainment menu, however, was very good and had a wide range of options from movies, entertainment shows, music, news etc. There are multi-lingual entertainment options, including Hindi and some other Indian languages. The best part was the live flight path and live display of various parameters.
The aircraft also had WiFi connectivity which had to be purchased at a cost. I did not use it as I feel this is the best “me” time that I could get away from the rest of the world.

Service:
Flight attendants were very polite and took very good care of all the travelers. They ensured to attend to the needs of the travelers at all the times and served them food, beverages, and water at right times.
